The attached image says:
“Say NO to the bill that says you can become an indigene by just staying 10 years in another man’s land.”

But let’s be honest : “other man’s land” is not the UK. It’s referring to fellow Nigerians staying in another Nigerian state. An Igbo person staying in Lagos. A Yoruba living in Kano. A Northerner in Enugu.

And somehow, we are against the idea that after 10 years of living in another Nigerian state, someone should be treated as an indigene?

Yet, the same people who support this bill want to stay 5 years in the UK and get #ILR . Or spend a few years more and become British citizens and they feel entitled to it.

We Nigerians abroad constantly complain about racism, #immigration laws, and being treated like outsiders. But back home, we do the exact same to ourselves.

A #Yoruba person is not accepted in the South East. An #Igbo faces resistance in Lagos. In the North, non-indigenes are often second-class citizens.

If we can’t even treat each other fairly as Nigerians, If we still fight over “indigene vs settler” after decades of living together,
Then what right do we have to talk about fairness in the UK?

We must fix ourselves before we demand change from others.
