Alma Asinobi, a Nigerian adventurer, has set her sights on breaking the Guinness World Record for the "Fastest Time to Visit All Seven Continents."

The current record, held by US Air Force veteran Johnny Cruz Buckingham, stands at 64 hours. Alma’s journey, however, is about more than just chasing a title; it’s a powerful statement on the challenges many Africans, especially Nigerians, face when it comes to visa restrictions and travel hurdles.

Determined to set a new benchmark, Alma embarked on an ambitious challenge that would take her across the world, from Antarctica to Australia, in an attempt to achieve the seemingly impossible. But her quest wasn’t just about speed—it was also about raising awareness of passport privilege.

For many Nigerians, visa rejections are a frustrating, and often limiting, reality, and Alma aimed to shine a light on these struggles while pushing the limits of what’s possible.

Despite facing numerous setbacks, including flight delays, reroutes, and visa complications, Alma remained relentless in her pursuit. She successfully visited six continents: King George Island in Antarctica, Chile in South America, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for North America, Spain for Europe, Cairo in Africa, and Dubai in Asia. With just one final continent left, she was on the brink of making history.

However, as she prepared for the final leg of her journey to Australia, Alma encountered yet another obstacle. She was denied boarding for her flight to Perth due to visa issues. Undeterred, she was rebooked on a flight to Sydney instead, a city she had always wanted to visit.

Although the delays and complications were frustrating, Alma refused to give up. “I’ve come this far, I’m not stopping now,” she said, knowing she had to finish what she started.

After 56 hours of non-stop travel, battling exhaustion, swollen legs, and mounting pressure, Alma finally landed in Sydney, completing her journey across all seven continents. While she didn’t break the world record this time—her time stretched to 71 hours—her achievement remains extraordinary.

Alma’s pursuit of the Guinness World Record may not have gone as planned, but the grit and determination she displayed are what truly make her story remarkable. Her journey is a testament to the Nigerian spirit and resilience, showing the world that no challenge is too great to overcome. For Alma, the mission is far from over, and she is already setting her sights on new horizons—continuing to push boundaries, inspire others, and make history in her own way.
