Two individuals have been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Ayowale Aladejana, a Nigerian man, in New Cross, south-east London.
Emergency services were called to a residential property on Monson Road at around 7:25 pm on Saturday, 2 August, after reports of a man suffering from stab wounds.
Despite best efforts by police, paramedics, and London’s Air Ambulance, Ayowale—who was from South Norwood, Croydon—was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem conducted on Sunday confirmed that he died from a stab wound to the chest.
The Metropolitan Police have since charged Ben Wazabanga, 23, of Fairfax Road, Bedford, with murder and possession of a knife. He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 4 August.
Ronique Belfon, also 23, of Morinsbury Road, Bedford, has been charged with murder. She appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court the same day and was remanded in custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the victim’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.
